Which Solar Panels Should You Choose?

Solar panel manufacturing is a competitive market. Those looking to go solar have a wide variety of options.

Here are some important factors you should consider when choosing solar panels:

11038939_691075014356547_2889611062437301115_o1.  Roof space: How much space is there for solar panels on your building’s rooftop? More space means you can have cheaper solar panels, while less space might lead you to more expensive but highly-efficient panels to meet your power needs.

2.  Monocrystalline/polycrystalline: Monocrystalline solar panels are made out of cylindrical silicon ingots. They are typically more efficient than polycrystalline, especially in foggy or shadowy conditions. Polycrystalline solar panels are made of molded silicon wafers. They are cheaper to manufacture, but less efficient than monocrystalline solar panels.

3.  Efficiency: The efficiency of a solar panel is defined as the percentage of solar energy that it converts to electrical energy. In October 2015, a solar panel with over 22% efficiency was revealed. Most panels Aikyum offers have between 16% and 22% efficiency.

The below table compares a commonly used model from each solar panel brands Aikyum offers. All these solar panel manufacturers are internationally certified.

Panel Efficiency Silicon Type Specs
LG 315W 19.2% Monocrystalline LG315N1C-G4
LG 280W 17.1% Monocrystalline LG280S1C-B3
Sunpower X-Series 21.5% Monocrystalline Sunpower X-Series
Canadian Solar 265 W All Black 16.5% Monocrystalline Canadian Solar All-Black CS6K-265
Kyocera 260 W 16% Polycrystalline KD260GX-LFB2
Solarworld 16.4% Monocrystalline Sunmodule Plus mono black (275W – 290W)
Suniva 325 W 16.6% Monocrystalline Suniva Optimus Series 72 Cell Module Silver Frame

Naturally, the tradeoff for higher-efficiency solar panels is higher cost. Whether or not the additional cost is worthwhile depends on factors like the available space and sunlight on your roof and your own finances.

Our solar experts will analyze your own roof and power usage and provide you with multiple proposals tailored to maximize power production and cost-efficiency for you.
